Soldier’s medal (Sweden)

For active Swedish military personnel there is also a soldier’s medal. As a Swedish soldier, you are expected to keep a normal marching pace and to carry the equipment you have been instructed to bring – for example, a first field dressing in your right trouser pocket.

To earn the soldier’s medal, you need to meet the following:

  • One day’s march with at least six hours of effort. A 30 km day is enough, provided it takes at least six hours.
  • A backpack of at least 10 kg. Water does not count (the weight of an empty bladder or bottle may be included), and neither does food.

You can weigh your backpack at the start and the finish – we carry out a check weighing at the finish line.
