Dogs

Your four-legged friend is welcome on the march. You know your dog best and what it can handle – which is why we’ll never stop you from bringing it along. Just keep a few things in mind before you set off together.

  • The surface differs between routes. The long routes are mostly on tarmac, which is hard on the paws, while the shorter ones run through forest and more hilly terrain. Choose a route to suit your dog.
  • It can get really hot. Make sure your dog gets water and shade along the way, just like you.
  • Be considerate. Not everyone is comfortable around dogs – the march is open to military and civilians alike. Keep your dog under control and on a lead where needed.
  • Bring your own first aid. We have no medical supplies for animals, so bring whatever your dog might need.

If your dog is injured

If your dog is injured during the march, care for it with what you have brought. If the injury is serious, or you’re unsure, ask a marshal for advice. Read more under Emergency contact.
